Cut the Cake
Scottish funk group, Average White Band, had two major hits that helped solidify the horn-driven funk sound of the ’70s. “Pick Up the Pieces” was released in 1974, and “Cut the Cake” followed close behind in 1975. Signature tunes with catchy horn licks that still sound great today!SKU: HL7011833 -

Pick Up the Pieces
It’s funk-rock—you know it, you love it. The tune is infectious and the arrangement is right on target with no individual solos, but plenty of section and ensemble work. The sax soli is crazy hot and the lead trumpet range is to written A, above the staff. Lots of unison lines, some fun bari sax licks and a very hip stop-time interlude that cooks. Consider this chart a winner. (4:00)SKU: AL30636
