This delightful old jazz standard is given a fresh new face by Calvin Custer. Calvin has provided younger and less experienced bands with the opportunity to perform a ‘golden age’ big band gem. The technical demands are limited, but this chart still really swings. The solid ensemble writing will give you a chance to teach balance and blend with your group. Blue Rondo a la Turk
You are not going to believe this arrangement! Calvin Custer has masterfully interpreted Dave Brubeck’s classic jazz piece, creating a marvelous version for your jazz band that is really not that difficult. Effortlessly moving from 9/8 to 4/4 swing, this great chart features trumpet and alto sax solos in the middle section, followed by a full band shout leading back to the head. Down and dirty’ best describes this solid Calvin Custer arrangement of a great old standard.
