Celestial Song
Composer Robert Spittal was moved to complete this work in response to the Newtown, CT tragedy in 2012, and serves as a reflection of our complicated feelings of grief and loss. The music is simple and direct, and meant as a hopeful work for young players. Moved by a metaphor describing the victims as “twenty-six new diamonds in the sky” the title is a reference to the stars which we look upward to for inspiration, for hope, and to dream of better things to come. Celtic Voyage
Inspired by the many hardships of the Irish immigrants, this piece brings hope of a new world, a new lease on life and a second chance. The piece begins with the sound of the ocean in the background (played by the ocean drum) while a solo flute plays the main theme. As the piece develops the theme represents several scenes: first, the knowledge that life needs to change due to the famine and hardships of the time; second, the immigrants begin their move to America; third, the arrival in America and seeing the statue of Liberty, which is the climactic moment of the piece; and finally, ending with the same idea in the beginning of the piece but now as memory and longing for Ireland.SKU: AL31716 -

Centennial March
This uplifting march begins with the clarinets presenting the melody over a single snare drum accompaniment. The textures increase as the melody is developed, leading to a heavier minor section featuring strong lines by the low brass and woodwinds. A modified “roll-off” by the percussion section leads to a seamless modulation and the final presentation of the melody. Warner Bros. Publications is proud to bring you the Buddy Rich jazz classic CHANNEL ONE SUITE. This piece was one of Buddy’s signature tunes, and it is now in print for the first time ever. Tom Davis has faithfully transcribed this chart from the original recording. It’s a real challenge, but one your students will love. In order to make this chart more accessible to most bands, we have provided alternate trumpet parts that have been rewritten to omit some of the extreme upper register passages.
