Chase the Shouting Wind
Inspired by the poem, “High Flight,” by American WWII pilot, John Gillespie Magee, Jr., this energetic work calls to mind the thrill and freedom of flight. Opening with rhythmic energy in the winds and rich harmonic statements in the brass, the mood gives way to a sensitive lyrical section. A dynamic development of the opening statement leads, ultimately, to a powerful and climactic ending. An excellent contest piece, this selection will enhance any program. (3:40)SKU: AL41965 -

Chorale Variants
“Chorale Variants” is cast more as a fantasia than a set of variations. The woodwind flourishes purposely infer what an organist might play while improvising on a chorale theme, and the full dynamic power of the wind band brings the piece to a passionate and vibrant close.SKU: AL46673 -

Confession (Movement 2 of Symphony of Prayer)
This remarkable composition is the second movement to Eric Schmidt’s colorful and dramatic symphony for band. A dark and energetic work, Confession is based on a three-note motive, beginning with a menacing opening, but finally yielding to a beautiful chorale that provides a transition to a somber and reverent conclusion. Brilliant orchestration and well-crafted use of creative thematic material make this a most expressive work. Thanksgiving, the popular third movement of the Symphony of Prayer is also available and makes an excellent choice when performed following Confession.SKU: AL24675 -

Continuum
This exciting, innovative new work from Robert Buckley was commissioned by the Troy University Symphony Band in honor of the 37th annual Southeastern United States Concert Band Clinic in Alabama.
