Through a Child’s Eyes
Through a Child’s Eyes is a composition with reflection on the innocence of a child, the discovery of the world around them and the peacefulness of a sleeping baby. After the somewhat bold introduction, the first theme brings a simple sense of comfort. The trumpets then stand proudly with a feeling of strength and confidence. After a climax we are led to a slightly contemplative section. The ending is filled with a recapitulation of the main theme accompanied with the music box. Through the Vulcan’s Eye
High atop a red mountain overlooking the magnificent city of Birmingham, Alabama, stands an iron sentinel—a monument of Vulcan that keeps watch over the “City of Steel.” Through the Vulcan’s Eye is comprised of four melodies, each aurally describing a view from the top of the mountain and inspired by the composer’s childhood experiences in Alabama’s largest metropolis. Broad brush strokes of sound blanket the work, enhanced by brilliant solo passages and total involvement from the percussion. A grand work on a grand scale! (7:09)SKU: ALBD9678 -

Thunderbolt (A P-47 Tribute)
The P-47 Thunderbolt was one of the workhouse airplanes of World War II, becoming the most produced, and also largest single piston engine fighter plane in history. This dramatic overture for band musically tells the story of this legendary plane. (The composer’s father piloted a P-47 during the war in 1944). The opening heroic strain is contrasted with a slow, reflective middle section before returning to the fast theme and exciting conclusion. A terrific-sounding and expertly scored overture, this will make a perfect choice for contest or festival. Dur: 4:40SKU: HL4003397 -

Thunderstorms
An original musical depiction of one of nature’s more violent events. Beginning with a serene introduction . . . the calm before the storm . . . the music quickly portrays the fury. After gradually building to an intense percussive climax, the storm quickly moves away. Peace and calm return once again. This is a very impressive composition. Highly recommended. Thus Spoke the Raven
Thus Spoke the Raven was inspired by Edgar Allan Poe’s dark and mysterious poem “The Raven.” Sounding particularly sophisticated for this grade level, the piece accurately depicts Poe’s poem in a fun and exciting musical setting. Slightly sinister sounding percussion begins the medium-tempo introduction, which leads into an energetic and driving “Allegro.” With the use of pulsing staccato accompaniments, exhilarating ostinato patterns, and stimulating syncopation, this piece has it all!SKU: AL19531 -

Tight Squeeze for Concert Wind Band and Prerecorded Track
From the acclaimed composer of Paper Cut, Alex Shapiro, this unique, high-energy work could be described by the following: imagine Arnold Schoenberg, Henry Mancini, and Charlie Parker walking into a dance club in Havana, and staying for three minutes. Tight Squeeze ventures into new territory as it explores chromaticism and syncopation against a prerecorded percussion groove. The result is the repertoire’s first electroacoustic twelve-tone techno Latin bebop band piece! Okay, maybe Schoenberg did all that first, but it never sounded quite like this!To perform the piece, you’ll need an audio system capable of playing the prerecorded audio tracks from a laptop computer via a small digital audio interface connected to an audio mixer. Download information is provided in the printed piece.
