Kinder Symphony
Leopold Mozart wrote his Kinder Symphony (“Children’s Symphony”) to charm young people especially. This arrangement incorporates the two main melodies in the original symphony and reduces their length to about four minutes. As in the original, there are “holes” where various sounds, other than musical, should be sounded. Before playing Kinder Symphony, the “sounds” will need to be assigned. This will be great fun for your audiences as well as players.SKU: AL22267 -

Kingsfold
The haunting melody of this traditional tune likely dates to the Middle Ages, and was published by British composer Ralph Vaughan Williams in the 1906 English Hymnal. Freely adapted by Johnnie Vinson in this setting for young bands, the minor melody is stated first by low clarinets and horns. The next section introduces an original theme, which is then combined with the first melody in the moving final section. Beautifully paced and scored largely in choral fashion, this is a wonderfully fresh and unique offering for holiday or winter concerts.SKU: HL4004338 -

Kiskiminetas (To Make Daylight)
“Kiskiminetas” is a Native American word that means to “make daylight” and was likely a command given to “break camp and continue the journey.” Paul Murtha’s escriptive work for young players opens with a noble fanfare suggesting the break of day. A lyric section follows depicting scenic vistas along the path, and finally an exuberant adventure theme celebrates the conclusion of the journey. Nicely paced with plenty of variety.SKU: HLPC23002 -

With a British flair and grandiose-style, this original march incorporates two distinct themes. Robert W. Smith explains that “Knights of the Royal Realm” was inspired by the musical life and talents of Sir Vivian Dunn, a British conductor of international acclaim. Korean Hill Song
The beautiful, well-known folk song “Arirang” is featured in this creative adaptation by Mark Williams. Kyiv, 2022
Written as a powerful sequel to Moscow, 1941, this work changes the narrative, where the theme from Moscow now becomes the aggressor, and the heroic people of Ukraine are represented by the Ukrainian National Anthem and the powerful song “Prayer for Ukraine.” Certain to spark discussions about humanity, history, and culture, this piece can easily be performed alongside Moscow, 1941 or in place of it. L’Esprit du Tour: A Fanfare for Lance
This remarkable piece captures the excitement, physical challenge, intensity and, ultimately, the thrill and sense of accomplishment a rider might experience during such a grueling and demanding physical trial as Le Tour de France. Both tonal and non-tonal compositional materials, some indeterminate and serial techniques, special percussion (a six-tom-tom cluster, heavy chains and four metal plates) along with traditional and non-traditional development procedures are used –impressing upon listeners, through sound, a sense and feel of competitive bicycling, from the point of view of the athletes themselves. In hopes of imbuing the music with the flavor of the various cultures coming together for this contest, the composition contains extant source material as well — including La Marsellaise, The Star-Spangled Banner and a brief reference to The Eyes of Texas.SKU: AL24681 -
