Mineola Waltz
Originally composed in 1890 by John W. Hawd, this Carl Strommen arrangement was scored for the centennial celebration of the Village of Mineola. The Algonquin term Mineola literally means “a friendly and pleasant village.” Mineola Waltz is a similarly pleasant work with a familiar-sounding melody and all of the flourish and panache of a distinctive waltz.SKU: AL26756 -

Platte River Hoedown
A “hoedown” is a Western American dance form closely associated with a jig, reel, or clog dance, performed traditionally as fiddle tunes in the bright, energetic, and upbeat style often found in the pulse of bluegrass music. This delightful piece provides a tuneful and rhythmic representation of this music for concert band. (3:00)SKU: AL41960 -

Poco Loco
Composer/arranger Carl Strommen has proven he has the right stuff to write for younger bands. This light and easy Latin original starts simply and builds. As it builds, you may recognize the chord progression to the classic pop tune, “Sunny.” The cowbell helps maintain the energy and drive for this chart, the solos for alto sax and trumpet are written or ad-lib, and the brass ranges are modest. Additional percussion parts can be added if desired. The lower instruments have an easy yet meaty part in this chart. The bottom line is a quality chart that’s fun to play, educational and well received by the audience. (3:50)SKU: ALJEM02034 -

Sonny’s Place
Here’s a swinging original composition featuring the saxophone section. No doubt about it, the saxes will crave this one, but not to worry, the brass and rhythm sections will love it too. First, your saxes will spend some quality time together on these solos in unison, harmony and a cappella, but always swinging. Then, a powerhouse stop-time ensemble section for the brass and fun chord changes and nice kicks over this blues progression for the rhythm section will keep up the energy. This chart is titled in honor of the defunct premier jazz club on Long Island. Commissioned by the Nassau-Suffolk Jazz Band, composer Carl Strommen went all out with this swinger. Great chart!SKU: ALJEM00014 -
