I Let a Song Go Out of My Heart
I Let a Song Go Out of My Heart arranged by Bill Culiffe, is a fine chart for a concert, festival, or dance gig. A medium swing at 114 BPM, written solos are provided for alto, trombone 1, and piano. With great dynamics, sax solis, and a sweet shout chorus, this chart swings all by itself, and you’ll love its voicings, too. Optional vibes. (4:04)SKU: AL41171 -

It Don’t Mean a Thing (If It Ain’t Got That Swing)
You may think this chart is all swing but it begins as a Latin then alternates with a swing feel—very clever! The tempo is bright at around 190-200 BPM. With written-out solos for trumpet and tenor sax, a few piano montunas, a big shout chorus and the big ending closes up this fine chart. It’s hot! (3:20)SKU: AL46157 -

Minnie the Moocher
First recorded in 1931 by Cab Calloway and his orchestra, this classic is best known for its famous scat phrase, “Hi De Hi De Hi De Ho,” performed as a call-and-response with audiences. He performed the song on film for the first time in 1955’s Rhythm and Blues Review and much later in 1980’s Blues Brothers at age 73. Authentic and recognized globally, the band members won’t be the only ones singing! (2:30)SKU: AL39529 -

Mood Indigo
This medium swing arrangement of the dreamy Ellington tune will cook at just about any tempo (though the recommended tempo is 108 BPM). The chart features a written tenor sax solo and a lot of interplay between the brass and saxes. It even has a 4-bar stop-time section for a rhythmic contrast. The Duke would be pleased that you’re playing one of his songs on your next concert program.SKU: AL36053 -
