Glacier Bay
Inspired by the majestic Alaskan landscape, Glacier Bay provides plenty of opportunities for dynamic and expressive playing by the young musicians. Following a brief introduction, the main theme is presented first by the trumpets and then by the low brass and trumpets in a lively and flowing manner. The active syncopated accompaniment patterns in the low brass and woodwinds provide an effective contrast to the melody. The B section of the piece moves smoothly into a stately, alla breve tempo with a clarinet choir making the first presentation of the melody. Following a very peaceful conclusion to the B section, an abbreviated restatement of the A section melody leads to the dynamic ending.SKU: AL24664 -

Grace Valley Overture
This energetic overture opens strongly with the low brass presenting a melodic arpeggio motive that recurs throughout the A section of the piece. The B section provides an excellent contrast with an expressive presentation by the woodwinds leading to a sensitive chorale setting. With shifting minor and major modes, the section builds with the brass before ending in a tranquil manner. Grays Harbor March
Here’s an energetic concert or festival opener by Steve Hodges. Grays Harbor March was commissioned by the George B. Miller Junior High School in Aberdeen, Washington. Then, a graceful transition leads to the flowing middle section in the relative major, only to return back to the original theme for the fantastic finish.
