Wind Storm
In early December 2011, a powerful wind storm passed through Southern California, leaving thousands without electricity and severe damage to many mature trees. Written during this event, this piece uses sharply syncopated rhythms, the key of C minor and prominent percussion to convey the mood that prevailed during the storm. As is always the case, calm, clear weather returned and the lyrical slow section in E-flat major brings that to mind. Accent on Achievement users will recognize the chorale in bars 49–56 as a variation of the B-flat chorale that appears on page 44 of Book 1. (3:45)SKU: AL37783 -

Windjammer (Voyage Aboard a Tall Ship)
Windjammers were the last of the great sailing tall ships, and this piece from the pen of Robert Buckley captures the majesty and excitement of these amazing vessels. The voyage begins announced by three solo trumpets surrounding the audience and bouncing musical phrases off one another. The sails are raised, the ship is underway, and the audience is taken on a colorful and exciting musical voyage. This is effective and skillfully scored programmatic music at its best. Winds of Change
In recent years, Oklahoma has seen a great increase in the development of wind energy. This development in sustainable energy sources and the winds that flow across the great state serve as the inspiration for this composition. The piece begins by depicting the great open spaces that stretch for miles across the Oklahoma landscape. Small gusts of wind (represented by scalar and arpeggiated passages in the mallets and woodwinds) dance across the landscape. The piece picks up pace as the wind races across the land, turning the turbines and charging towards the future. (5:30)SKU: AL45002 -

Wings of Apollo
NASA’s Apollo program is known for landing the first humans on the moon in 1969. In this composition, your dauntless adventure begins with a powerful lift off. Once achieved, the main theme is presented by flutes, oboe, and then trumpets, with stabilizers provided by baritone, tenor sax, and eventually the remainder of the crew. Stage 1 boosters (a strong, rhythmic accompaniment) provide the propulsion needed to voyage through to a sea of tranquility (lyrical section). From there we journey to an adventurous transition and a final re-entry of the main theme. (2:35)SKU: AL44973 -
