Azure Hills
Azure Hills is a lyrical ballad that presents the band with many opportunities for expressive playing. The theme is lightly presented by the flutes, then followed by another statement in the trumpets with added textures in the accompaniment. The second statement features some interesting harmonies by the woodwinds before leading into a very expressive final presentation of the melody with an added woodwind countermelody. A stirring variation and development leads to a very effective and climactic ending where melodic motives are passed from section to section as the piece winds down to a quiet, reflective conclusion.SKU: AL33825 -

Ballad for Peace
The word “peace has many connotations: “a state of tranquility or quiet, freedom from war and harmony among neighbors”, and more personally, “freedom from disquieting thoughts and emotions”. This piece was written in an attempt to express ideas such as these. The form is similar to the composer’s earlier Balladair (AABCAA) with a modulation leading to a final extended statement of the opening melody, serving as a codetta.

Band-O-Ween
Written as either a fun or serious performance piece, this work incorporates several well-known and familiar classical melodies associated with the macabre and creepy. For a more serious program, “Pieces Macabre” is offered by the arranger as an alternate title. Included themes are Johann Sebastian Bach’s “Toccata and Fugue in D minor,” Modest Moussorgsky’s “Night on Bald Mountain,” Charles Gounod’s “Funeral March of a Marionette,” and Edvard Grieg’s “In the Hall of the Mountain King.” It’s spooktacular!SKU: AL38354
