Embraceable You
What a gorgeous ballad. This wonderful Gershwin standard, recorded and performed countless times, is ideal for your students to play and learn. Featured are beautiful chord changes throughout with nice block harmonies for the ‘bones, a muted trumpet solo, and alto sax and tenor sax solos each playing written-out melodic lines. Speaking of chords, this is a great opportunity to teach students to recognize diminished chords. Your drummer is using brushes until the end, keeping this chart tender and sweet, and the brass ranges are quite reasonable with trumpet to G and trombone to F. It’s a great change-of-pace ballad for any setting. Roy Phillippe truly captures the essence of Gershwin with this classy arrangement.SKU: ALJEM00026 -

Romantic songs always communicate well with the audience, and this Gershwin¨ classic is one of the best. This flexible arrangement is written in two keys by creative arranger Dave Wolpe. Feather Report
With the distinct flavor of the group Weather Report, writer Kris Berg continues his successful string of chicken-related jazz ensemble titles with Feather Report. A superb chart with a hip-hop/shuffle-swing kind of groove and a written-out tenor solo, although other players can handle the simple two-chord solo section. Some meter changes from 4 to 3 and back, but nothing dangerous. Lead trumpet range is to written A above the staff (optional C). Brass players have a tough blow in this one, but it’s worth it. Very hip chart and another winner from Kris Berg. (6:17)SKU: AL29792 -

Feels So Good
Chuck Mangione’s huge hit arranged by Victor López, “Feels so Good” features the Flugelhorn solo (on the 1st trumpet part) throughout with the distinctive melody and then a written out solo along with a written tenor sax solo. The flugelhorn solo range is up to written high C but the solo is cued on the 1st tenor part. A well-known and appealing tune that will be enjoyed by both the band and the audience. The whole band will have their eyes glued to this chart as the horn players hunt and peck through this one. The rhythmic figures are searing with energy, the rhythm section will cook on high heat throughout and the tenor sax soloist will need oven mitts for protection. Lead trumpet to written high C (optional D). Once this chart is done, the band and the audience will order up again and again. Highly recommended! (4:57)SKU: ALJEM03031 -
