Encargada por la Universidad Furman para la toma de posesión de su 12º presidente, Gloriana de Jay Bocook se basa en “The Faerie Queene”, un poema épico inglés incompleto escrito por Edmund Spenser y dedicado a la reina Isabel I. En el poema, la reina Isabel es representada como la propia hada reina, Gloriana. Esta majestuosa obra para vientos y percusión tiene un carácter regio realzado por melodías elevadas y puntuadas con figuras de metal a modo de fanfarria.
