Fantasy on Themes from Tchaikovsky
Tchaikovsky’s musical progress was based upon impulse, rather than upon intellectual conviction. It was his sincere response to emotional impulse and the freedom with which he ranged over almost every field of musical creation which made him as great as he was. Frank Erickson passed away before he could provide rehearsal suggestions for this piece. This was one of his final numbers.

Festival Dance
The Gymnopédies, published in Paris starting in 1888, are three piano compositions written by French composer and pianist Erik Satie. The name referrers to an ancient Greek festival and dance. This piece has a haunting quality to its very familiar melody while its harmonies are atmospheric and ethereal. The setting would easily stand on its own but would also lend itself well to choreography for modern dance or ballet to enhance the performance and involve additional performers on stage at your concert. The flowing lines and beautiful textures make “Festival Dance” a must for your concert band repertoire. (3:00)SKU: AL43132 -

Fire of Eternal Glory (Novorossiyek Chimes)
Although considered to be a small work in Shostakovich’s catalog, “The Fire of Eternal Glory” was one of his best known works in the USSR. A recording of the piece, originally written for the war memorial in Novorossiyek, has been playing continuously at that location since its construction in 1960, possibly making it one of the most frequently played pieces of classical music in existence. James Curnow’s arrangement for young band begins with delicate sounds from the bells, and builds to a tremendous climax for full band. Dur: 2:30SKU: HL50490464 -

Fivefold
As the title might imply, this unique composition contains several references to the number 5. For starters, the meter of 5/4 is an obvious connection. More subtle is the prominent use of the interval of a fifth, and also only five different pitches used throughout the entire work excerpt for two measures near the end. Even though Fivefold is composed using single tempo, the variety in textures and moods makes this particularly appealing. Dur: 4:00SKU: HL04005353 -
