Escape from Dead Raider’s Hollow
“Escape from Dead Raider’s Hollow” is a fast-paced adventure. Opening quietly, the introduction gradually builds in volume and energy up to a tempo change where the piece takes off and doesn’t relent until the end. Combining rhythms of 3 over a pulse of 2 creates a hemiola effect that drives the piece forward, creating a feeling of anxiety and being chased. This is a bombastic, action-packed piece with loud percussive hits, huge brass, and soaring woodwinds that ends with a bang. (2:30)SKU: AL44988 -

Evensong
Evensong is a beautiful ballad in standard song (ABA) form with a brief coda. The lyric nature of the composition offers opportunities to develop the ensemble’s expressive playing with concentration on tone, intonation, balance, and phrasing. The contrasting B section features the woodwind voices and moves through several non-traditional key areas (B, D, C major) before returning to the tonic key (E-flat major) for a varied restatement of the A section. The coda provides a quiet and peaceful conclusion. (3:45)SKU: AL29482 -

Excerpts from The Rite of Spring
The premier performance of The Rite of Spring in 1913 is the stuff of legend. There was disagreement among the people who attendedas to whether it was the music or the choreography that caused the near-riot in the audience. Since then The Rite has been performed regularly and is considered to be one of the most influential works of the 20th century, laying the basis for modern jazz, film music and even heavy metal. It’s all here: the driving rhythms, haunting Russian folk melodies, brilliant scoring, crunching harmonies and the epic drama! The intention with this arrangement for band was to stay as true as possible to the original and choose the sections that would work well in this context. Sure to become a valued and important addition to the wind band repertoire! Dur: 6:30SKU: HL04004206 -
