Heitor Villa-Lobos

This famous aria pays homage to Johann Sebastian Bach and remains one of the most popular of Villa-Lobos’ works, originally written for solo soprano and eight celli. Jamin Hoffman’s setting for string orchestra spotlights a violin soloist with the beautiful melodic line, which soars and captivates, in the manner of Bach’s long non-repeating slow movements.
