Medieval Dance
A secular tune from the Medieval era, “Amours, que porra devenir” (O love, what will become of me), was composed by trouvére Thibaut de Blason, probably around 1200 AD. This arrangement for beginners is scored in 3/4 time and brings the vivid history back to life. Carefully scored, this piece offers both a history lesson and reinforcement of triple meter. Great for teaching and performance! (2:00)SKU: AL43082 -

Medieval Fanfare and Chant
This piece is based entirely upon Pérotin’s “Viderunt Omnes.” A member of the Notre Dame School, Pérotin was a pioneer in three- and four-voice polyphony. “Viderunt Omnes” is one of the few remaining pieces of organum quadruplum known to exist. “Medieval Fanfare and Chant” alternates between the literal presentation of the music and a more contemporary setting of the themes, going back and forth until the final grandiose statement.SKU: AL35390 -

Meeting at Tryon Palace
Described by the composer as “bombastic, but with a groove” this work for young players opens with striking percussion statements. The band enters gradually, first with unison figures along with the percussion, and then additional layers. A contrasting slow section with flowing lines and minor harmonies sets the stage for the dramatic final section. A great way to showcase your percussion section. Dur: 4:10 (Grade 2)SKU: HL04002867 -

Metroplex: Three Postcards from Manhattan
A musical portrait of Manhattan’s cityscape, Metroplex opens with a vision of the New York skyline, tall buildings, and concrete canyons. This leads to an urban jazz scene in one of Harlem’s clubs. Finally, the music takes us on a wild taxi ride through the heavy traffic of this incredible city. The skyline is seen once more as we leave Manhattan, hopefully to return again soon.SKU: AL24669 -

Mill Mountain Vistas
This spirited composition for concert band is inspired by Mill Mountain, which is located on the outskirts of Roanoke, VA and provides a wonderful elevated view of both the city of Roanoke and the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. Of particular interest, the mountaintop contains a structure known as the Mill Mountain Star, the world’s largest freestanding illuminated man-made star, visible for 60 miles from the air and 1,045 feet above the city of Roanoke.
